Can a doctor really prescribe you a root beer? In this case, he sure can! Dr. George W. Swett invented his root beer at an early age and it continued to be produced until 1951. Born in 1834, Dr. Swett owned two retail and wholesale pharmacies, one in Boston, and one in New York City. The root beer originally was produced in little packets of dry ingredients and mixed with soda water. It later was pre-mixed and sold in bottles. This faux wood grain tin sign is dated 1946 in the lower right corner, as it states “S-46-151”. The red letters are all embossed, as is the red circle at the bottom. Some small scratches are on a few of the letters, plus two scratches on the brown ribbon at the bottom. The faux wood grain has a textured feel to it and it really makes the sign stand out. It has six mounting holes around the outside, and has been professionally framed for easy display. 18890-QEPP
