The earliest license plate tag we have available, this 1917 Virginia issued tag measures fourteen and a half inches long by five and three quarters inches tall. It has white raised letters and numbers on a black background. The outer edge is embossed and has a white outline as well. The letters, numbers, and outline have some wear and chipping on them, and the back has stuck paper on it. While it originally had only two oblong mounting holes at the top, a previous owner has added a hole in each of the outer corners to display. Virginia started embossing tags in 1914, so this is a rare early model! 19132-QQR
