Due to increasing metal demands due to World War II, Americans became adept in using different materials for everyday materials such as license plates. This 1944 Virginia license plate is made of Fibreboard, and is attached by rivets in the upper corners to a 1942 Virginia metal tag. The 1944 Fibreboard tag was attached to the vehicle at the bottom two mounts, as you can see washer impressions still. You can also see some slight bends in the upper corners where the rivets are. Some light scratches are on the black raised numbers and letters on the tag can be seen as well. Some rust is on the bottom of the metal 1944 tag, with some slight bends on the edges. Neat piece for the automobile or war collector! 19124-TT
