1960s Coca Cola Fishtail Flange Sign Refreshing Coke

Technically an “Arciform” meaning forming or resembling an arch, Coca Cola’s Fishtale logo has become very collectible among today’s retro Coke aficionados. The name for this distinctive design arose from the resemblance of both ends of the logo to a fishtail. It was introduced in 1958, and was used until 1965 when the iconic red disc made a comeback, as it was more readily identifiable. We love the fishtale design and it looks amazing on this double sided flange sign. “Enjoy That Refreshing New Feeling” below the bright red fishtale logo, this flange features gray trim around the outside and lines through the middle. It is marked “AM 32” on both sides of the flange, and is in amazing shape. Some paint crazing on the outer lip of both sides of the sign, with some minor chips on the flange. It’s easy to see what influenced the design of the fishtail logo in the late 1950’s automobiles in those years were sporting dramatic tail fins inspired by fighter aircraft of WWII and modern rocket designs. 18712-YET
