A welcome sign to see for weary travelers, Marathon gasoline stations were located throughout the Midwest. The simple design and eye-catching colors allowed customers to pick out the gas station location from afar, as this porcelain pole sign stood above the rest. It measures 46.75 inches high by 60 inches wide with an irregular hexagon shape. This sign features sharp colors and a beautiful gloss finish and is marked “S. P. – ’64” along the bottom edge. This denotes that S. P. Signs produced the sign in 1964. The face has two small chips in the red “M”, with a scratch below it. The backside is white, with a larger scratch.
