Unusual enamel decorated screw back lapel button, a souvenir from the HMMBA annual meeting held in Atlantic City in 1905. HMMBA stands for the Hotel Men’s Mutual Benefit Association, an early insurance group formed in 1879 that was merged with several other small firms to create the Bankers Life & Casualty Co. in 1942. The pin, manufactured by Whitehead & Hoag in Newark, NJ, has a gold tone finish with a light blue enamel border at the top and a white enamel border at the bottom. In the center is a beautifully detailed image of a goddess, with the sun rising behind her, emerging from the surf. It is in excellent condition. 7576-21QE
