Early toys were nothing like they are now, they were handmade and only the richer families were able to afford them. This horse and cart toy provided many nights of enjoyment to a child in the early 1900’s. The horse is standing on a platform with metal wheels and the cart attached to the horse at one time. The leather straps are no longer able to hold the cart to the horse’s body. Originally the horse had horse hair on the body, but over time some has been lost. The tail is original also. The cart is handmade also and uses wooden dowels around the sides with small nails to hold the rails to the sides. It has been painted and some has worn off. Very fragile toy that will look great on a shelf in your collection. 18169
