Manufactured by H. S. Geer in Troy, NY. and dating from the early 20th century, this ice cream scoop is made of nickel plated brass with a nickel silver bowl and a wooden handle. The 1909 patent date and the number 12 (the number of scoops per quart) are stamped on the back of the shaft. The scoop measures about 11 1/2 inches long by 3 1/2 inches wide and has a 2 1/2 inch diameter bowl. This example has seen a lot of use but is in good working condition with surface wear and peeling down to the brass base metal, and small dents and dings in the bowl which causes the wiper to stick a little. 3695-71QPP
