Great circa 1900-1920 glass paperweight for the sign business The glass paperweights is a small yet stunning object that have been around for centuries. They were first made in France during the mid-19th century. Paperweights were initially used to hold down loose paper on desks but companies found that they were a perfect way to advertising their company or product. It advertises 10 different sign shops which were part of the Sign Art Club. This was a “By Invitation Only” club. No town or state mentioned so can’t tell where it was from. This club advertised Better Signs at no higher prices.The sign shops included. A & W Electric Sign Company, Thos. Cusack Company, Hall & Higgins, Halter Sign Company, J J Metzger Sign Company, Nieding Sign Company, J K. Ramsdeall, Reitz Sign Company, The Weber-lind Company and Whittle Sign Company. No chips or breaks. Scratches on the back, only one is barely visible on the front. Still today, they are quite popular and sought after by collectors all over the world. 1064-WT
