Wonderful new old stock early gold painted wooden thermometer. You will find that during World War II many advertising thermometers were made from wood in order to save metals for the war effort. This example dates from that time period. It is inscribed “Puritan Ice Cream” and has an image of a young Pilgrim lady at the top with “Pure & Sweet” inscribed on a halo around her. Below the gauge it is inscribed “Newark’s Famous Ice Cream, phone Market 4504.” It is in near mint condition. 3951-90WPP
