Oyster House Sugar Dish Boston

Manufactured in Germany for restaurant supply company Bauscher Brothers, this unusual diner weight ironstone covered sugar bowl has lion’s head handles and a tapered body. The front and back sides are inscribed “The Boston Oyster House” with an image of an oyster on the half shell in place of the word. The lid fits correctly but appears to be a marriage because its green stripe decoration is slightly darker than that of the bowl. With the lid the sugar bowl measures about 3 1/2 inches tall by 4 1/8 inches in diameter and is in excellent condition with a 1/4 inch rim chip. 1309-81QP
