Rare 1940s Orange Crush Embossed Tin Sign With Crushy

Description

When it was first invented in 1911, it was originally called Ward’s Orange Crush, and included orange pulp in the ribbed bottles to give it the illusion of being “fresh squeezed”. Neither lasted long, as the name was shortened to just “Orange Crush” and the pulp was removed. This sign dates from the 1940’s and features Orange Crush’s mascot “Crushy” in the upper left corner holding one of the iconic ribbed bottles complete with his soda jerk outfit on. This sign features an embossed border and embossed “Crush” letters as well. The sign has a six inch scratch that goes through the ‘s’ and continues to the orange background. A smaller scratch is just below it that measures just under five inches. The outer corners have some paint loss with bends as well. A small scratch can be seen at the bottom of the bottle in the upper left, and some paint loss is in the upper right with two small scratches in the ‘o’ of for. A dent is in the embossed frame under the word ‘in’. Super sign that is rare to find! 19161-WQYP
