Saloon Pocket Mirror Sporty Days Invigorator

This scarce celluloid pocket mirror was manufactured by St. Louis Button Co. around the turn of the 20th century. It has a bawdy image of a woman dancing around in her red petticoats in the center and is inscribed “Drink Sporty Days Invigorator, Creates Youthful Feelings” around the outside. Sporty Days Invigorator was a medicinal product that supposedly cured impotence, but after the enactment of the Pure Food and Drug Act in 1906, lawsuits were filed and it was found that Sporty Days Invigorator was little more than 70 proof liquor. Nothing like the power of suggestion ! The mirror measures 2 1/4″ in diameter and is in good condition with a split and surface rust on the bottom edge and scratching and silvering loss on the mirror. 13933-31IO
