Before the emergence of the “throwaway society,” these nickel silver cup holders held paper liners and were used when serving soft drinks or ice cream. Dating from the 1940s, they were manufactured by the Public Service Cup Company in Brooklyn for use with Lily paper liners. The group includes 4 cup holders and 1 footed holder with a round basin for serving sundaes or other ice cream confections. The cup holders measure 3 1/2 inches tall by 3 1/2 inches wide with the handle and sundae holder measures 2 3/4 inches tall by 3 3/4 inches in diameter. They are all in near mint condition.
