In the late 1800s and early 1900s, ladies of the church loved to design quilts with patterns inspired by biblical verses. The Tree of Life Pattern references the Garden of Eden, when Adam and Eve lost access to the tree after tasting the forbidden fruit. This quilt uses pink-and-white fabric with 12 tree blocks and 6 pink blocks. The tree’s leaves are triangles sewn into two-color squares, which are then stitched “on point” in diagonal strips to create the tree’s bower. Creating these rows of colors requires an experienced quilter. It also features a three-piece backing. The quilt is in nice, displayable condition, with a few light stains and some flaws that add to its character. The maker is unknown to us. The quilt measures 80 inches tall by 70 inches wide. 8547-RRP
