Victorian Ice Cream Penny Lick Glass

Originally used in London England, this small glass was used to serve ice cream to customers. They would purchase a small dip of ice cream for a penny, and eat the ice cream and lick the glass. As you can imagine, this was not very sanitary and was banned in 1898. When looking at the glass, you think you are getting a lot for a penny, but the the thickness of the glass made the ice cream appear greater than it was, and the customer was usually disappointed in the end. This glass stands 3 1/4 inches tall and has a 2 1/2 inch base on it, and is free of chips and cracks. We have multiple penny lick glasses, please search for them on our site! 18480-WP
