Rural school zones were not marked as they are today, so drivers needed to be warned when a school zone was present. This Coca-Cola policeman was giving this warning to drivers. The yellow shield is reflective, so the black letters are seen by drivers when their headlights shine on the sign. Each side is marked “AM 62” along the bottom edge.
