Gaining popularity during World War II, pin-up calendars boosted soldiers’ morale and offered them a respite from the emotional strain of combat. The term “pin-up” originates from the practice of pinning a calendar or picture to the wall. The term now describes a subculture of fans who dress in vintage attire and are frequently seen at car shows. This calendar, dated 1979, was issued by Ditzler Automotive Finishes. It features a pin-up girl in short shorts, resting on the front of a car at an air show, holding binoculars and a program. The full-color graphics look nice with a full 1979 calendar pad below. Mardick Auto Paint Supply in Rockford, Illinois, distributed this poster to the local body shops as an advertisement and a “Thank You” for buying paint from them. This poster is new old stock, stored rolled up for many years. We have flattened it and added a frame with a plexiglass face for easier display.
