These rare advertising household item dates from the late 19th century. It is a crumber set for cleaning off the table after dinner and it is made out of stamped aluminum, which was a fairly exotic metal at that time. It has an art nouveau style embossed floral pattern on the handle of the scraper and on the back edge of the dust pan. There is a silk screened advertisement on the dust pan for “Sempre Giovine” (always young) soap, manufactured by Marietta Stanley Co. in Grand Rapids, MI. The ad shows an image of the company’s trade mark bar of soap above a garland of flower blossoms. The crumber set is in good condition with some wear on the advertisement and minor dings and scratches due to the softness of the metal.
