Black Joe White Sue Cream Chewing Gum Bookmark

This rare late 19th century heavy paper book mark doubles as an advertising trade card for chewing gum. The front, inscribed “Book Mark” at the top, has a colorful image of a little girl dressed for the cold, below the image of a smiling black man. Below this image is the inscription “Black Joe Cream Gum The creamiest of all chews.” On the back are ads for Black Joe and White Sue Cream Gums, produced by the L. E. West Gum Company of Rock Island, IL., plus information about exchanging wrappers for “Valuable Presents,” like 5 wrappers and 2 cents for 2 of these book marks. The book mark measures 7 inches tall by 2 inches wide and is in excellent condition with minor wear on the top and bottom edges and a couple of light creases. 3576-71QPP
