Manufactured by General Advertising in Reading, PA. and dating from the late teens or early twenties, this colorful plastic over tin “Enameloid” sign has a chain and a tin easel (which is unusual; most had a cardboard back), so it can be hung or displayed on a counter. An advertising piece that would have been used in a hardware store originally, it is inscribed “Harmonious Decorations for Interiors obtained by using Bradley & Vrooman Co.’s Washable Interior Colors” in the upper left with inset images of a bedroom, kitchen, living room, and dining room. Each inset lists the colors used in the image and suggestions for other color choices. The sign measures 17 1/4 inches tall by 19 3/4 inches wide and is in excellent condition with minor scuffs and fly spot stains.
