Pronounced “Kleek-O”, the Clicquot Club Company was one of the largest national beverage companies, competing with Coca-Cola and Pepsi in the soda race. Originally from the New England area, the company boasted over one hundred bottling plants in cities from Maine to California in the early 1950’s. We date this cool looking embossed sign from the late 1940’s just as America was starting to come back from World War II. Very simply stating “Clicquot Club Beverages” with the Cliquot mascot “Kleek-O The Eskimo Boy” front and center. The letters and the circle around the mascot are embossed, as is the outside frame of the sign. Some minor bends along the bottom of the sign with some paint loss show that this was not in service very long. The letters have some small paint chips and one small scratch on the left of the sign. The back of the sign must have been laid on a different sign during the drying process, as it has “Enjoy Geobel Bantam Beer” in reverse. Very cool piece to add to your soda collection. 18622-YPP
