When producing American made cigars, George Washington Hill knew he had to stand out amongst his competition. Everyone was selling 5 cent cigars, so he implemented marketing strategies to be different and make customers purchase his cigars. One such idea was this metal humidor that the tobacco or general store owner would keep on his counter to sell Cremo cigars out of. Much larger and more eye catching than a typical cigar box, this humidor has directions on the back of the tin in multiple languages letting the store owner know how to care for Cremo’s. A few minor dings on the lid with some paint wear underneath shows that this box was used daily. Also some chipping on the very bottom can be seen where it sat on a store counter and got moved around. The lid opens and shuts easily, as does the ventilator on the back of the metal box.
