Red Devil Paint Junior Billboard Display

This rare counter top tin display stand was manufactured by George Rutledge Company in Montclair, NJ. and dates from the late 1940s or early 1950s. It is made to look like a roadside billboard and originally held an insert with Red Devil Brand glazing and painting tools attached. The sign is double sided with a removable top panel that reveals a slot in the center so that the insert could have tools on both sides. There is also a slot on each side for a glass, so the tools could not be taken off the display. The base has a lattice work design like a real billboard of the day with Red Devil Logos on all sides. In the center of the wide panels it is inscribed “Red Devil Junior Billboard.” There is a four inch diameter round hole in the bottom that may have held some type of lighting. I’m not sure because I can’t find another like it. The display measures thirteen inches tall by twenty inches wide by five inches deep and is in excellent condition some nicks and scratches on the top and sides. You could easily make a heavy cardboard insert and find tools and attach with string. Great rare piece not found. 9989-10WPP
