Originally from an ice cream parlor in High Point, NC., this wonderful back bar shelf assembly dates from the 1930s. It is made of pine with plywood front panels that have been milled to give them the appearance of old, coarse-grain barn boards. There are carved half-cove moldings on the edges and shelf fronts. The back bar has 3 shelves at each end, a 6-slotted vertical shelf for cigarette packs, and a large square mirror in the center, with narrow mirrors at the ends. A reverse-painted glass panel above the center mirror is inscribed in blue, “Lindale,” and a glass advertising sign holder is at the top, with a rear access door for updating specials. The back bar measures 58 1/2 inches tall, 108 inches wide, and 8 inches deep, and is in excellent condition, with some staining on the end boards and the bottom shelf. The mirrors are original, as is all of the finish, except the end boards, which had been painted and were recently refinished to match.
