Dating from the 1950’s, this really neat felt banner is embroidered with “W. R. Stephens Co.” along with the Buick script and “Minneapolis” at the bottom. We found that Windred Ruben Stephens Sr. purchased Pence Motors in 1930 after working there since 1914. “Win” Stephens was one of the original organizers of the Aquatennial, a parade in downtown Minneapolis to highlight the abundance of lakes, rivers, and parks in the area. This banner would have been hung by one of the many activities during the events. It is in great shape with the original fringe at the top and bottom. Some darkening has occurred at the bottom of the letters that spell out “Minneapolis” and the banner has some slight wrinkles that need to be pressed out. The top wooden bar/handle is missing one ornate end on the left side. It also has two grommets at the bottom that could be used to secure it to the wall. Certainly one of a kind collectable! 19303-EEP
