Wow, this stunning antique WETHROMETR enameled advertising thermometer from the Hardin-Lavin Co in Chicago, Illinois. It features a young woman in overalls, tools, and a blowtorch. The Hardin Lavine Co. was an established heating and plumbing company that existed for several decades in the early 1900s. The caption beneath the cute mascot reads “Our Handy Man,” which may be a reference to the women who entered the workforce during WWI (1914 – 1918) as men served overseas. The graphics are crisp. The glass thermometer is undamaged and works, but reads cooler than the actual temperature. A small vented metal cage covers the bulb, with a small hole at the top for wall hanging. There is a small chip on the outer edge of the curved top, measuring approximately 6 1/8″ x 2 1/2″. Due to the mercury content in the thermometer, this item is UPS shipping only. 20989-TPP
