Cloisonne Desk Clock – The Travelers Insurance Company 1926

Company promotions are a badge of honor for many employees, and I can only imagine how impressive and useful this desk clock would have been in 1926. The clock celebrated the 62nd anniversary of The Travelers Insurance Company, located in Hartford, Connecticut. The top shows the dates 1864 and 1926, along with a line drawing of the company buildings. The bottom reads “Commemoration of the 62nd Anniversary of Accident Insurance In The Western Hemisphere” along with April 1, 1926. The clock face features “The Travelers” letters instead of the normal 1-12 you would see on a clock face. It is marked “Seth Thomas” on the face. The fantastic feature of this clock is that it uses Cloisonne metalwork for the letters and the building picture. The clock face was then filled with porcelain to give it a one-of-a-kind finish. The clock face is glossy, colorful, and damage-free. It keeps correct time, once it is wound. The back is missing a small leg that would have allowed it to sit upright, as it currently does, resting on the clock mechanism. 21487-II
