Discover this wonderful, untouched, early gold-painted wooden thermometer. During World War II, many advertising thermometers, such as this one, were crafted from wood to conserve metal for the war effort. This delightful piece is from that era, inscribed “Puritan Ice Cream” and adorned with the charming image of a young Pilgrim lady at the top, surrounded by “Pure & Sweet” in a glowing halo. Beneath the gauge, you’ll find the words “Newark’s Famous Ice Cream, phone Market 4504.” The mercury tube rests safely inside the wooden frame, held securely by two metal brackets and protected by a larger metal cover over the thermometer’s bulb. It’s in near-mint condition, sure to bring a smile to any collector. Due to the mercury content, we’ll ship this item via UPS only. 3951-90WPP
